Munya x Levis: Jeanius

This was a really creative and interesting project for Seven Blue Pixels to really sink our teeth into. We were tasked with not only the head replacement for the Make-up artist shot, the directors table and neon signs but also the the eye transitions, neon signs and some invisible paint work.

The entire shoot used a robotic calibrated arm allowing for timings and movements to be precise.

There was a lot to do on this project in a short time and tight budget and we couldn't be prouder of what went out from us.

Make-up Artist Head Replacement

This shot evolved once we were on set. The director, Ian Roderick-Grey, wanted to bring in and use a Mirrored table too. This obviously threw in complications as not only was the camera moving but it was also needing to match the reflection and head replacement.

Additionally there was also a wig, that needed to have the movement added back into it once replaced.

So we had Munya on a greenscreen in his make-up artist wig, perfoming his line so well, and then we had the double come in during the main shot and time their performance.

In post, it was a case of replacing the head with Munya's greenscreen one, matching the movement of the hair onto the body and then re-timing the reflection pass (we're not going to talk about the amount of roto needed!)

Director's Research Table

This shot was quite challenging.

We filmed Munya in his 4 individual spots, 3 researcher takes and his Director's take.

The director went first and he was just slighlty off for what we needed.

So during the edit, we had to move him over but that proved we didn't have the data needed for the shot, and unfortunately due to the extreme amount to be filmed in one day on set, we didn't get any clean plates.

This involved us having to recreate bits of Munya's clothing that we had no data for from scratch and then get it to move with him and match the lighting.

Then after that process, we were able to (again with a lot of roto) comp it all together for the final shot.
